Tootsie Olan is a NYC-based choreographer who captures the electricity of contemporary funk/jazz and translates it onto television, musical theatre and concert stages. She has performed and choreographs for recording artists, industry events, and awards ceremonies in the U.S. and abroad.
Realizing that the average non-performer does not get to experience the legitimate thrill of dancing and performing, Tootsie created her signature dance fitness class, taking the NYC fitness scene by storm more than 15 years ago and growing every year. Currently, Tootsie teaches and leads workshops/master classes in the NYC + metro area to ALL levels, igniting petrified non-dancers and professional dancers alike, to move like they never have before. Tootsie created POE danceFLOORED, an exclusively branded dance class for POE studios, a luxury boutique fitness company on the east coast of the US. Beyond dance, her obsessive foray into yoga lead to her to RYT Yoga Certification, adding another layer into her teaching-- to keep the exhilarating raging on the dance floor in tandem with safe body alignment. Tootsie now leads her own curated dance + yoga domestic and international retreats, allowing her to share her loves of travel, culture, food, dance & yoga with her community all over the world.
Tootsie’s past work: MTV, HBO, WB, UPN, Metro, Telecinco, ESPN, NBC and various Dance and Fitness DVDs. Musical theatre credits span from regional to off-Broadway, New York City’s Fringe Festival, NYC Children’s Theatre, LA Film Festival's Stage to Screen, USA/NBC Network TV Upfronts with the cast of Pysch, and recipient of Ovation Award for LA’s Film Festival's The Possession of Mrs. Jones.
After Tootsie graduated Cornell University with a BA in Psychology and minor in Dance, she took her talents to Barcelona Spain and then back home to NYC where she worked as an Associate Producer for TV. In addition to lighting up the dance floor with intoxicating, sweaty goodness, Tootsie is a rockin' wife and mom to three objectively amazing, creative, smart, obviously well-behaved, super-duper kids who appreciate a good home-grown dance party.
